Blackout

Blackout fabrics are available on every single type of shade. Although it's a little impractical on some of them, it's still available. The reason a lot of blackout fabrics make little to no sense on a lot of shades is the dreaded light gap. The size of the gap from the edge of the window to the blind has got to be as small as possible or it really defeats the blackout purpose. For example, the roller shade is an exellent option in most rooms but it has a gap of 1/2 to full inch, since no light comes through the fabric, the amount of light that pours in from the edges is extremely noticeable and frankly unacceptable.

There are two shades that are unquestionably the best blackout options. The Honeycomb shade and the Solera Roman shade. They have the smallest light gaps and also have the most practical top down bottom up controls. They are also the most energy efficient shades we have.

Bedrooms are the most obvious place for blackout fabrics but we also use them for rooms that have serious heat issues. Homes that have a western facing waterfront view have the worst heat issues because they get whacked from the sky and the glare off the water. That 5 o'clock sun can make a lot of rooms intolerable and puts a lot of stress on your air conditioner. Although the blackout fabrics aren't as pretty as light filtering fabrics, making your 96 degree sunroom 84 degrees has a beauty all its own.

From my initial visit to consult on their products, to the in-home visit to measure my windows (a MUST - let the professionals measure since each *identical* window had slightly different dimensions), to final installation, AAA Blind Factory was friendly, professional, and and customer-focused. The Hunter Douglas shades look great!

Wonderful

We purchased a blind at AAA Blind Store. My husband decided to install it himself. Probably not the best choice. Once he mounted it properly the wand mechanism wouldn’t raise the shade. I brought it back and they said they would repair it. The next day they called, said they would reinstall it and make sure the wand worked correctly. We had dreaded reinstalling it yet again. They came adjusted the mounting and explained why we had trouble. WONDERFUL SERVICE.

Solutions

These folks are great! I needed to replace a large motorized blind. I called two other companies before finding AAA Blind Factory of Bonita Springs. The other companies didn't return calls, were late for appointments, and didn't offer good solutions. I'm so glad I decided to try a third time and called AAA. They booked an appointment the next day to take a look at my blind. Rick arrived exactly on time (literally to the minute). He was clearly familiar with the brand of the existing shade and gave me a reasonable proposal on the spot. Then the next day he called back to say he had talked with the manufacturer and that they could replace just the fabric and keep the existing motor, which saved me a ton of money. Gary (the scheduler) got us on the calendar right away. And Jim (the installer) was great -- he showed up right on time, worked fast, was really careful, and even showed us features we didn't know existed (the original installer hadn't programmed them into the controls). I really can't say enough good things about these guys. From sales to scheduling to service they made the whole process really easy, they offered the best solutions, and they still had the best price (in part because they know their products well enough to offer better solutions). Great experience. Will recommend these folks in a heartbeat to neighbors.
